ok...now it's time for the weekly update!

Retail: In promoting its first hybrid, the  CT200h, Lexus has begun the Darker Side of Green campaign, in which they show that eco-friendly can be sexy and not all about "flowery sunshine-filled days in the park."  Lexus has created the Dark Ride Card to line up cool hotels, nightclubs, and fashion partners as part of its investment of marketing tools. This includes the Luxury Eco driving glove, created by eco-luxe designer, Linda Loudermilk.

This week, I also discovered the cutest eco-friendly kids boutique! Cornflowerblue is a gorgeous online boutique where you can find eco-friendly, organic, and ethical kids clothing from local and international brands. Go read more about them here! Seriously, aren't these dresses adorable?

Blogosphere: There's quite a bit of eco-fashion movement in the Project Runway world! First, I'm happy to report that the winner of the past two episodes of PR is an eco-lovely, Gretchen Jones of MothLove.

Also, the winner of season 7 of PR, Seth Aaron Henderson, is now creating solar-powered clothing, which he will debut at Portland's upcoming Fashion Week on October 9th. I'm looking forward to seeing exactly how he will mix sustainability with his punk-rock designs.

Sales: Get 50% off all full-price items at Stewart + Brown with the code FIFTYOFF.

NIMLI is also celebrating summer by offering 30% off  from 8/3 - 8/9/10. Use the code DOIE30 at checkout :)

Design Inspiration: The Roli Hoodie

As most of you know each c. marchuska piece is named after someone we admire for their impeccable and chic style.  So today we come to you with a post about the newest c.marchuska addition, the roli hoodie, named after our dear friend, Roli Aggarwal Tilani.  Roli and I met at Cornell in our super exciting (can you sense the sarcasm) policy analysis classes.  However, we didn't become BFFs until after college when we both ended up working at two of the same firms that made up our finance career.  Roli always had this amazing sense of style where she looked effortlessly gorgeous in simple well constructed pieces.  Also, to note, Roli has this relaxed yet intelligent personality that I wanted to encompass into a piece that would be her namesake.  After taking all of this into careful consideration, the roli hoodie emerged.

The roli hoodie is made of deliciously soft bamboo viscose which allows for a flattering chic look on any figure.  The 3/4 length sleeves make it the perfect piece for a throw on for an evening at the beach or a day in the office (I sported it yesterday to my day job ;) ).  It currently is available is sizes xsmall through large in tan, light grey and white.  Buy yours here today!  They also will be available on A Green Wardrobe, Nimli and Ecosumo - three of our fav eco shopping sites!

Oh and did we mention the roli hoodie was featured in Star Magazine on page 58 of the April 26, 2010 issue??  Um yeah, we were pretty excited about that too :)  Happy a great Wednesday and feel free to comment and share this post!

xoxo

Design Inspiration: The Erin Dress

Happy Monday everyone!  As I glance through my closet for the perfect outfit to start the work week, I find myself picking up the newest addition to the c. marchuska collection, the erin dress.  If you didn't know, I name every piece of our line after a fashion icon in my personal life.  Thus, the erin dress is named after one of my closest high school friends and fellow cheerleading buddy, Erin Vestal.

Erin always had a unique sense of style with a flair for anything bright and eye-catching.  She still loves anything red and continues to represent style and sophistication as a lawyer in upstate New York.  I named the dress after her because it is the perfect piece to wear to work whether your office is in suburbia or the chicest of cities.  It also can be totally glammed up for a night out on the town or at Brasserie, my new fav midtown east powerbar in NYC.  Miss NY USA, Davina Reeves, recently sported the erin dress in black with a white jacket for her PIX 11 Interview

The erin dress is made of a sustainable blend of bamboo viscose which is super sexy soft, and machine washable which every girl on the go wants ;)   Like all c. marchuska pieces, the erin dress is manufactured in NYC's Garment District.  Buy yours online here: erin dress Or pick one up at Kaight (New York, NY), A Stone's Throw (Madison, WI), A Green Wardrobe (Sausalito, CA) or Branch Out (New Orleans, LA).  Happy Shopping and have a great week!

What’s all the buzz about organic bamboo?

Organic bamboo is made from fibers of bamboo grass and is processed organically with the least amount of waste. Due to its fast growth rate (1-3 feet every 24 hours) it is one of the most renewable resources on earth. cmarchuska is dedicated to using the highest quality eco-friendly fabrics and bamboo is one of our favorites. The fabric is deliciously soft, it is like a blend of silk and cashmere. It is also anti-bacterial and has qualities that keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It is such a great fabric and you will definitely see it in the cmarchuska Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

As you wait for the Spring/Summer 2010 collection you can purchase cmarchuska dresses that are made from organic bamboo. Visit our website.

NEW cmarchuska SPRING/SUMMER 2010 COLLECTION IS FOR THE WOMAN ON THE GO!

New York - September 06, 2009 – cmarchuska, the New York based, eco-chic, women’s clothing line, is getting ready to launch its Spring/Summer 2010 collection. The Spring/Summer 2010 line is the first collection by cmarchuska’s Head Designer, Mignonne Gavigan. Gavigan, a graduate from the Parsons School of Design and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is an extremely talented designer. She has worked for esteemed designers, Marc Jacobs, Asprey, and FORM, and brings a fresh look to cmarchuska and green clothing.

Christine Marchuska, Creative Director and Founder of cmarchuska says, “working with Gavigan was inspirational. She took my concepts and brought them to a new light by blending sophistication with edginess.” Marchuska states that she is elated for the new collection’s photo shoot, which is slated for Saturday, October 10, 2009. The photo shoot will be an enthralling experience, where Marchuska can watch the vision that she articulated be translated into works of art. She acknowledges that the photo shoot would not be possible without her dedicated team: Erik Dong (photographer), Julia Cairo (stylist), Peter Lam (hair), Jonathan Monina and Sean Cunningham (videography), cosmetics provided by E.L.F, and hair products provided by KMS California.

Marchuska says, “this new collection is sustainable fashion for the woman on the go.” As always, the pieces in this collection are named after her family and friends who serve as sources of inspiration. Pieces from the new line include, Diane, Tia, Julia, Jen, Roli, CJ, Elisabeth, and Rebecca. Rebecca, Marchuska’s friend and entrepreneur, says, “the ‘Rebecca’ is scrumptiously easy to wear, and its classic, elongated lines are timeless. It is simply chic while fantastically figure forming. Wear it casually or dress is up with a belt, jewelry, or scarf and you are ready to go from morning until night!”

The Spring/Summer 2010 cmarchuska collection is a must see. As always, cmarchuska will deliver affordable, yet stylish, clothing, which can be worn straight from the workplace to a night out on the town. For more information, check out cmarchuska online at www.cmarchuska.com or at Montmartre, Columbus Circle, New York and various other boutiques.
