Eco-Friendly Rain Gear

As the rain comes pouring down here in the great city of New York, I've been reminded that I need to get some new rain gear...and I thought, wouldn't it be great if there was an eco-friendly choice in rain gear? and of course - there is! Here are some of my finds:

Umbrellas: the #1 necessity in a downpour!

Totes carries the Eco'brella, made of 70% recycled materials and is easy-to-carry with an earth-friendly bamboo handle & waxed hemp strap. Other options include Radley umbrellas, made of 100% recycled plastic bottles, and the Monsoon Vermont which is "all about Trashion"

Rain Boots & Galoshes: makes your life more walkable!

Make a splash in Kamik rain boots. They are 100% waterproof and made of 100% recyclable materials. Plus, they are durable, lightweight and come in fun designs =) I particularly like the Kamik roadster for kids - my nephew would love the trucks and cars.

Rain Coats: enjoy being paddington bear once in awhile - he's adorable

Patagonia make two rain coats, the Rain Shadow Jacket and the Eco Rain Shell Jacket, both of which are made from recyclable materials. In fact, see what exact elements go into the making of their apparel by checking out the Footprint Chronicles, which shows you each and every step in the making of the product to track the environmental footprint of your purchase. pretty cool huh?

Man's best friend? Gotta cover him up too! Cloudburst carry the dog jacket that will live forever! Made with 100% recycled polyester fabric that is recyclable again through West Paw's closed loop recycling program.

For the kiddos, Organically Hatched sells super cute Hatley raincoats for children. These have made quite a splash with the mom blogs...and I can see why! Check out the polka dots!

Gotta love how these brands are really doing their part to take care of the environment!
