Fresh from LA: Q&A with Film Entrepreneur, Ajay Nayyar

Playground featuring Ajay Nayyar

This week we were lucky enough to have our favorite up and coming actor and producer, Ajay Nayyar, grace us with his presence via a blog interview.  We also are very excited to be working with Ajay on wardrobe for his new movie, "Playground".

CMar:  What inspired you to become an actor?

Ajay: I grew up believing the very simple rule - "Do what makes you happy in life, and you will always succeed."  After watching Ralph Macchio in "The Karate Kid" and Michael J. Fox in "TeenWolf" and "Back to the Future," I was inspired to take the simple joy of entertaining to be the building block of my career!

CMar:  What do you love most about your job?

Ajay: Working in my "dream job" means that there is nothing at all that I don't love about my job.  Yes, the hours are insanely long, but it's the fuel for the fire inside me.  Being able to express my creativity and share it with the world is something that I just can't ever walk away from.  I've tried plenty of other jobs (including having been a financial adviser in London), so I know how easy it is to identify and walk away from something that isn't a real dream or passion.

CMar:  What upcoming projects are you working on?  Why did you choose our fashion line, c. marchuska, for wardrobe for your upcoming movie?

Ajay:  I am working on my second feature production titled "Playground" next summer.  I first heard about Christine and c. marchuska through my cousin, Mandeep, who was assisting Christine with model management for her February 2010 Fashion show (read Mandeep's experience as a model wrangler here).  I did my research, and I decided to contact Christine...the rest as they say, is history.  Christine’s many qualities, including her professionalism, determination, pure natural talent, and knowledge of the fashion industry, were a joy to experience. Having grown up with parents working in fashion, it was quite simple for me to see a person who knows what she’s doing.  So it was without hesitation that I asked Christine if she would be the wardrobe designer for “Playground” and to my joy, she willfully accepted. It’s very difficult to find people to trust in my industry, so you can imagine the delight of finding someone like Christine.

CMar:  Why is being green and eco-friendly important to you for your film?

Ajay:  We see all this money spent on wardrobes in big budget movies all the time. This time around (in a small independent feature) we can be a little bit different and do what we can to help the environment!!

Thank you so much for your time this week Ajay!!  We are very excited to see c. marchuska on the big screen!

Have a great week everyone and as always thank you for reading, commenting and sharing!

xoxo,

CMar
